Monastic Profession

On Saturday, October 4, we celebrated the Solemn Monastic Profession and Life Commitment of our brother Alvaro. It was a moment of joy for our community and for our families and friends who came to be with us from as far as Brazil and Mexico. We would like to share our joy with you. This 9 minute video shows the monastic profession in the context of our Eucharistic celebration. We thank our friend Sean Dougherty who filmed the video.

    my dear brothers all,
How wonderful, how blessed. Even from just watching the video, I can feel the spirit of God. The joy is so powerful and humble and loving. The embracing arms of you, my brothers, continues outstreached far beyond the beauty of your holy dwelling place. I carry your love and all you have taught me, in my heart forever.
God bless each of you, may our Lord protect you and overwhelm you with His spirit and love.

    Dear Brothers,
Thank you for having the foresight to video this for those of us unable to be there. It gave me great joy to watch Brother Alvaro takes this step and his addition helps to add to Brother Leo’s original vision.
    God Bless,

My Sister and I had the privilege of attending this profession while on a trip from our respective states of Montana and Oregon. We have been inspired by the Monk’s music for many years. When it dawned on us that we could actually make a visit to the Priory we planned our first trip to Vermont! It was such a joy and a life long wish come true to be on the Priory grounds with the additional benefit of participating in the spiritual joy of brother Alvero’s celebration. The blessing of that day lives in us. It will keep us spiritually grounded and joyfully alive in the Lord. Blessings- Judy and Sue, Pilgrims from the West Coast

All I can say is Thank God there is a better alternative to living in the world, especially at this time. We are all being asked to choose…Our God or the world as it appears. I choose God!
